YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME

coliving

Two traditional buildings in Lisbon city center, reimagined by a young Portuguese team in 2018.
What started as a simple idea, to create a space where people could live differently in Lisbon, became an urban coliving experience built around community, comfort and everyday life.

Our coliving is located in the heart of Lisbon, close to Baixa, Chiado and the Tagus River.
You don’t need transport to “experience the city”. You’re already in it.
From our front door, you can explore historic neighborhoods, cowork during the day,
surf on the weekend and return home without feeling disconnected.

Private and shared rooms designed for longer stays and everyday comfort.
Minimum stay: 8 nights
(enough time to slow down, settle in and experience Lisbon beyond the surface.)
Urban coliving made for connection, community and real life in the city.

FAQ

A coliving is a new way of living and belonging — It’s a place where you can sleep, rest, work and live a lifestyle set on convenience, community, and comfort, where collaboration, open-mindedness and tolerance are key. At samesame, colivers live together in two buildings that are adjacent, share common areas, common values and similar journeys. However, we can host you in shared or private rooms/apartments.

Rooms and common areas cleaned weekly.
If you’d like an extra cleaning with fresh linens, it’s available for €40.
Cleaning supplies are also available in all shared areas for your personal use.

Many coliving spaces talk a lot about “community.” At samesame, we try not to over-design it. There are no mandatory activities or rigid schedules. Instead, the house simply creates the conditions for people to connect naturally.

Someone might start cooking dinner and a few others join. A message appears in the house chat about a padel match. A small group decides to go surfing when the forecast looks good. From time to time there are yoga sessions, movie nights, day trips or slow Sundays together. Activities usually happen organically and people join if they feel like it — nothing is forced, but somehow something is almost always happening (almost every day).

One small tradition we do have is our Sunday brunch. Every Sunday we gather at the house for brunch, and it’s usually the moment when people share ideas and make a loose plan for the week ahead — things like surfing, dinners, day trips, or sports. Everyone is always free to join or skip; it’s simply a space to connect and plan together if people feel like it.

Since 2018, samesame has hosted people from all over the world who come to Lisbon to live and work remotely. Most guests stay for a few weeks to a few months. The community tends to include people working in tech, design, marketing and creative industries, startups, entrepreneurship, and other independent or remote careers.

Many guests are in their late 20s to mid-30s and often in a moment of transition — exploring Lisbon, working remotely, or taking advantage of the flexibility that remote work allows.

And something we really love: quite a few people end up coming back.

The rooms with a work desk are the Double Bed in a Premium Private Room, Double Bed in a Conceptual Private Room, and Twin Room. All private apartments have either a work desk or a dining table.

The coworking space offer two hot-desk with 12 seats reserved only for current colivers and it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. In case you want to rent a fixed paid spot, we have a special range of prices for the family members and the possibility to use the space 24/7. Please note that the coworking space will only be in operation until June 1, 2026.

We have two buildings, side by side, sharing the same block.

Madalena Building
Second floor: Double Bed in a Private Room (3 units) + Double Bed in a Conceptual Private Room (1 unit) + Single Bed in a Private Room (1 unit)

Third Floor: 4 Bedroom Apartment (entire private apartment for rental)

Fourth floor: Studio with Balcony + High-end 1 Bedroom Apartment + 2 Bedroom Apartment

Fifth floor: Studio

Beco Building
Ground floor: 1-Bedroom Apartment
Second floor: Double Bed in a Premium Private Room (2 units) + Twin Room (3 units) + Staff Triple Shared Room (1 unit).

Shared areas are all the areas outside your bedroom and bathroom. From the kitchen to the living room and any other corners you can find around the coliving. Except if you book a private apartment, then you don’t have to share the kitchen and living room.

All bills are included in a single fee—covering rent, electricity, water, and Wi-Fi. This fee also includes regular cleaning of common areas, restocking of kitchen essentials, and replenishment of shared spaces. We clean the common areas at least once a week, and each room or apartment receives a full cleaning — including linen and towel change, every 10 days. If you require additional cleaning before that, it is available for an extra fee of €40 per day. There’s a laundromat available for guests. We have 1 washing machine and 1 dryer, both available for use 24/7 at an additional cost per cycle.

Cancellations submitted more than forty-five (45) days prior to the scheduled check-in date shall be refunded in full. Cancellations submitted between forty-five (45) and thirty (30) days prior to the scheduled check-in date are non-refundable; however, the Guest shall be entitled to a credit equivalent to the amount paid, redeemable toward a future stay within one (1) year of the original check-in date, subject to availability. Cancellations submitted less than thirty (30) days prior to the check-in date, as well as cancellations requested after check-in, early departures, or refund requests made during the stay, are strictly non-refundable and do not qualify for credit under any circumstance.

Although we love pets, unfortunately we cannot host them as colivers unless you choose a private apartment for your stay.

You can invite friends if your housemates agree — we encourage our residents to host their own community events in any shared space. If your friend wants to sleep with you in the same room, it is always possible since your chosen room has a double bed, and we charge a 15€ fee per night.
